Judy M. Nelson was elected to Glendora City Council in 2011 and began her term as mayor in March, 2014. She is a Southern California native and resident of Glendora for 34 years.
Judy is the owner of Mrs. Nelson’s Toy and Book Shop, Inc. and has a B.S. degree in Occupational Therapy from Texas Woman’s University. She worked as a therapist, specializing in pediatric rehabilitation, for ten years before founding her children’s book store.
Judy and her husband, Byron, have been married 45 years and moved to Glendora in 1980 with their four small children. Judy was a stay-at-home mom until 1985 when her youngest children, twins, were in 2nd grade. At that time, she opened Mrs. Nelson’s Toy and Book Shop. Over the last three decades, she expanded the business to encompass 3 independent companies including school book fairs and library bindery services.
In recent years, Judy has become concerned with the direction of our state and federal government. She is passionate about the need for leaders who serve with integrity and a commitment to doing what is in the best interests of citizens. She advocates for residents to become actively involved in selecting responsible representatives and providing oversight.
Judy has vowed to do her best to ensure that Glendora remains fiscally sound and prosperous, now and into the future.
